Round 1 Winter (January – Beginning of March) This application contains Potassium fertilizer plus pre and post emergent herbicides designed to control existing weeds in the lawn and prevent new weeds from emerging. Winter weeds are a good example of weeds that are controlled with this application. The fertilizer will promote a healthy spring green-up and help the lawn recover from winter stresses.
Round 2 Early Season (March – End of April) This application will contain important nutrients needed as the lawn emerges from dormancy. Preemergent Crabgrass control as well as post emergent weed control will be applied as needed. Our technicians will scout the lawn for any other potential problems and advise as needed.
Round 3 Spring (End of April – June) A special blend of fertilizer will be applied to maintain the health and optimize the lawns color during the early summer months. Weed control will be applied as needed. Our technicians will continue to scout the lawn for insect and disease activity.*
Round 4 Early Summer (June – the end of July) Summer fertilizers are used at this time. This will consist of a slow release fertilizer used to maintain good color. Our technicians will continue to spot treat for any weeds that still may be present in the lawn. *
Round 5 Late Summer (End of July – End of September) Summer fertilizers are continued at this time. Weeds will continue to be treated as necessary. *
Round 6 Fall (October – Middle of November) The Late Fall application contains a special fertilizer that promotes root growth that enables the lawn to store food, which is important in winter survival. Warm season grasses will be treated with a preemergent to prevent winter weeds.
Round 7 Late Fall (Middle of November – December) Winter weeds can be a problem, so this treatment helps minimize winter weeds. A special fertilizer will provide important nutrients to survive the winter months.
* Insect and disease control are additional services/costs.
The lawn program above varies for each type of grass. We do not treat all grasses the same.
Because the Cape Fear area has a year-round growing season, TLC can only guarantee lawn programs that consist of 5 or more treatments.
