Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to start service?

The answer is anytime. In our area, we have a year-round growing season and there is always something that needs done to the lawn.

What is the best grass to plant in my yard?

This is a loaded question because there are 4 types of grass that do well in our landscapes. Bermuda, Centipede, St Augustine and Zoysia are the grass types that grow best in our area. There are pros and cons to using each of these grass types, so give our office a call to schedule a free consultation to help determine which grass will be best for your landscape.

How high should I mow my grass?

Bermuda, Centipede and Zoysia are grasses that must be mowed short to promote optimal health - 1 1/2" or less is best for the grasses. St Augustine is the only grass in our area that prefers a high cut of 3" or higher.

Also, be sure to keep your mower blade sharp and never remove more than 1/3 of the leaf blades when mowing.

How often should I water (irrigate)?

Irrigation frequency in this area is based on many factors such as - grasstype, weather, soil type and time of year.

  • Most irrigation should be done between April and September.
  • Use the manual irrigation button as often as possible. The weather in our area is very upredictable and mother nature often provides us enough rainfall to keep lawns healthy and green.
  • Water in the early morning. This will help minimize disease activity.
  •  Water for long durations, infrequently. This allow the lawns and upper soil layer to dry out and promote a deeper root system.
  • Most lawns need irrigated 1-2 times per week for 45 minutes a zone.
